Day Treatment
The transition back home into their family system begins in the Recovery Stage. The student has earned back trust through a commitment to safety and respect for themselves and others. The LifeLine
approach is based on the premise that youth can’t change alone, but recovery within the context of their family. It is essential to provide ample opportunity for family time away from LifeLine as well as ongoing family therapy
to support growth and learning.
Relapse Prevention Planning
Each student prepares and presents to their parents a personal relapse prevention plan that identifies “red flags” that may trigger past acting-out behaviors. Alerting parents to the warning signs of relapse provides added support for the student and opens the lines of communication that help prevent a relapse before it actually occurs.
